Week 3 saw only one change to the table in either division. The on-field action, however, was anything but stale.
Over 35/40 Division:
The early game saw the bottom-feeding Owls and Falcons battle it out to a 3–3 draw, which means both teams are sitting on a single point nearly one-third of the way through the season.
In the middle match, the Hawks/Doms kept pace with the Vultures by beating TJ's Eagles 6–3 and also increased their goal differential to +3 over the third-place Ospreys and to –1 behind the first-place Vultures.
Speaking of the Ospreys and Vultures, they faced off in the late game, which saw the Ospreys squander an opportunity to gain ground in the table by losing a nail-biter to the Vultures, 6–5. The loss keeps them in 3rd thanks to their +10 GD advantage over the 4th-place Eagles.
Over 50 Division:
Another battle of the bottom-feeders in the early game saw the last-place Lions continue to struggle, losing to the 5th-place Lynx 6–1. The Lions have yet to earn a point this season, while the win saw the Lynx leapfrog the Tigers into 4th on goal differential.
The middle game saw this year’s Cinderella team so far, Mack’s Cougars, continue their dominant run by spanking the second-place Jaguars 5–2. The win put the Cougars alone at the top of the table, while the Jaguars slipped into a tie for 2nd with the Panthers.
The late game had the 3rd-place Panthers take on the 4th-place Tigers. Unlike the prior week, the Panthers struggled to maintain possession, which allowed the Tigers to counterattack effectively. Only thanks to two wonder strikes by Robbie Pait were the Panthers able to pull out a 2–1 win.
We’re back in action Thursday, February 19 at Stoney Field. See you there!
