Recap of the week’s action

Week 2 gave us another good night of soccer, with plenty of goals, some wind-assisted chaos, and one game going right down to the wire.

Week 2 Results

  • Jaguars 8 – Lions 3

  • Cougars 5 – Tigers 1

  • Pretty Pink Seahorses 3 – Lynx 2

The Jaguars found their scoring touch in a big way this week, putting eight past the Lions after opening the season with a 3–3 draw. Alan Georgeson also narrowly escaped relegation to the minors by scoring a lovely goal — apparently buying himself at least one more week in the big leagues.

The Cougars kept rolling with a 5–1 win over the Tigers. Mack’s report from the field: “Very windy affair with the new light ball flying everywhere!” Apparently controlling the ball was only part of the challenge Thursday night. Still, with the Cougars now sitting pretty after another convincing win, somebody in the crowd was heard muttering, “The fix is in.” We’ll leave it to the league office to investigate.

The Pretty Pink Seahorses–Lynx match was much tighter. Joe Mills opened the scoring for the Seahorses, who took a 2–0 lead into halftime.

The Lynx came roaring back in the second half and tied things at 2–2, but with the clock winding down, Bill Dyer hit a cracker from the top of the box to give the Pretty Pink Seahorses the 3–2 win.

Bunky summed up the Seahorses’ secret weapon pretty well: “I wasn’t there. :)”

One quick housekeeping note: please grab your bottles, cans, tape, and anything else before you head out. A quick sideline check after your game helps keep the fields looking good.

See everyone next Thursday!
